Jan Grainger, a huge supporter of Aussie Speedway over the years has provided a few choice classic photos for us to enjoy on Vintagespeedway ...Thanks  Jan.
The one and only Aub Lawson, one of Australia's greatest riders and ambassadors, 10 times World Finalist with his best finish in a World Final in 1958 when he finished 3rd. to Barry Briggs and Ove Fundin. Aub was Ove's mentor at Norwich when they rode together.
Jim Davies with pasenger Johnny Hall.  Jim, a 4 times Australian Champion with some saying he was Australia's greatest sidecarist.
Clarence ' Clacker ' Levy with passenger Charles Moran. Clacker, one of the famous Levy Speedway family and a great rider in the 40s and 50s.
' The Satan ' ..Frank 'Satan' Brewer, christened Satan in his early years in New Zealand because he drove like the Devil. A champion midget driver in the States and a crowd pleaser in Australia and New Zealand.
Probably Australia's greatest midget driver, the mighty Ray Revell and his ex Johnny Balch, ex Perry Grimm, Offenhauser, seen here running the number 7 at the Sydney Sports Ground Speedway in the early 50s.
The left front nicely off the ground, Andy McGavin hounds the Revell # 65 Holden through the turn.
One of our very few lady midget and stock car drivers, Edna Wells.
Edna never having driven a midget before beat Irish woman driver Fay Taylour in a series of match races at the SSG in the '50s. Edna drove the ex Revell A model Q1, then numbered # 6. A bit of a jinx car with Bill Annabel and Tony Burke both losing their lives in the same car in later years.
